Here is my Europe-screw based on various russian AH forums.

In this world Europe could never been able to recover from the Dark Ages and remained poor feudal subcontinent. There were several PODs. The first POD was a failure of Reconquista and definitive consolidation of Islam on the Iberian Peninsula. The second one was a Byzantine victory over Seljuks and the absence of the Crusades. And the last one was the absence of Temujin (although the Mongols still managed to create long-lasting empire from Kazakhstan to Korea) and the Black Plague has never come to Europe. Yeah, quite peculiar PODs, but trust me - it will work.
Without Europe the history flowed in the other direction. *America was discovered by Moroccan sailors in the late fifteenth century, soon followed by Songhai and Andalusian merchants and colonists, which provided continuous cultural exchange and gave a technological impetus to many native tribes. Meanwhile, at the other end of Eurasia, China had never gone into isolation and sent its merchant ships to every part of the world (for some time it even had some trading posts on the continental Europe). Various African and Asian caliphates grew and collapsed under its own weight. Indian states were per se and tried to stay out of world affairs.

Leap forward! It is 1960 AD, 30 years after the Mediterranean War, in which the coalition of Andalusia, Byzantium and Tunisia triumphed over Morocco and Egypt. Holy Sea, a radical Christian terrorist state with a new branch of Christianity (22nd, to be exact), whose leader declared himself the second incarnation of Jesus, is became the main problem for the winners. Weak European countries weren’t able to fight the fanatics, and the flow of refugees streamed into the rich southern countries.
Technologies are at the level of the end of the nineteenth century. Trains are the fastest vehicles on the earth, and the dreams of flight yet remain dreams. Racism rules the world, and the politicians argue about the future of the Sahara.
This world has a lot of problems besides the Holy Sea. Small peasant uprising in China has become a bloody revolution, which threatens the existence of the ancient empire; the Grand Persian Empire openly provokes neighbors to war; Indian states once again stand on the brink of war. This world has no time for rest.

The names of some continents and colonies were taken from GURPS Infinite Worlds.
