Last and First Men [2250]

Disclaimer: this map is not intended to challenge existing territorial boundaries or revise past historical events. This is just a product of the author's fantasy created for entertainment. All characters and events are fictitious and any resemblance is purely coincidental.

Pretty quick map based on one of my favorite books «Last and First Men: A Story of the Near and Far Future» and inspired by the old work by B_Munro link.

It is 2250 AD and the world is still in a state of cold war between the ultra-capitalist individualist American Continental Federation and its allies (reverse-apartheid South Africa and post-apocalyptic western Russia) and collectivist xenophobic Chinese-lead Asiatic Confederation. Actually, it's not quite the Cold War in our sense of the term; there are no fingers on the red button (no nuclear weapons) and there is no ideological struggle (although proxy wars are still there).

The League of Nations is a strong organization, and every country in the world is a member of it. Although the League has failed several times, which led to catastrophic consequences, such as the messy Anglo-French war, the German-Soviet chemical war and brutal American-European war (the US used a special deadly gas that disappears after a couple of days). The LoN is currently divided into two blocs - the American one and the Chinese one, and this greatly interferes with the normal activity of the organization.

Technologies tightly stuck in the thirties of the XX century. Space is still closed for mankind, although there are some satellites and space probes (probes sent to Mars is never returning for unknown reasons). There are very few mineral resources remain, but scientists have not yet found any substitutes. Military technology evolved only in the field of chemical and biological weapons. Nuclear weapons have been invented and immediately destroyed by its creator. At least medicine has leaped forward.

Current scandal because of children-workers in India threatens to escalate into global war. Will this be the last war in the history of mankind? Only time will tell.
